Our first stop for dinner in breathtaking St.-Jean-Cap-Ferrat was
to the infamous Paloma Plage which sits on the Scaletta cove at
the bay of Bealieu-sur-Mer. It is a private beach club and
restaurant by day with lounges and watersports. And, although
it's open to the public for evening dining, reservations are
essential as the restaurant is very popular for private parties.
Paloma Beach is at the foot of a steep hill. Parking
is limited but there is valet service at the top of the
stairs. However, most people we saw that evening
arrived by boat. Paloma provides a free tender service
for those arriving from their boats and yachts.
Established in 1948, it is the jewel of the area and has
been drawing locals, celebrities and people from
around the world since opening. Paloma Beach is
open from Easter until the end of September. It offers
a lounge area, showers and a changing rooms.
No need for checking out the "fish of the day" in
this boat that sits up by the kitchen as they will
proudly bring you the choice fish picks to your table.
Here is a wonderful salad of artichokes, goat cheese on
toast with asparagus in the most refreshing lemon
vinaigrette dressing.
The creaminess of the Burrata cheese with the fresh
basil and tomatoes were exquisite!
Apparently another fish just came in that moment so
he could not fit on the display tray.
The choice was hard but my decision to pick
the John Dory was perfect!
You just cannot imagine how good this meal tasted and
coupled with the stunning views over Beaulieu, Cap d' Ail
and the cliffs at Eze, it was a magical evening!
The restaurant in the evenings is open from late May to
early September. Bring a wrap for when the sun goes down.
A memorable evening I will never forget!
