Sweet Times In Amarillo
Been to Amarillo, Texas, lately? Well, I know all lot of us are going by way of Amarillo on the way to and from New Mexico, Colorado and beyond to go skiing this winter. And while just about everyone knows about the restaurant in Amarillo that offers a free steak if you consume that 72-ounce honker, some might not know about something much sweeter to munch on when finding yourself in Amarillo.
Have you ever heard the song, "Amarillo by Morning"? Well, there is a good reason they sing about this town of about 260,000 that sits in the middle of the Texas Panhandle. With clear blue skies and not much in the way of trees and hills, you can set your eyes upon a pretty spectacular sunrise. However, eating the sweetest doughnut in West Texas at The Donut Stop and watching a sunrise is about as good as it gets.
Your mouth will thank you when you eat these fresh-from-the-fryer delicious glazed and cake doughnuts. Just check out some of these flavors....Cherry Frosted Glazed, Chocolate Crunch Cake, Coconut Frosted Cake, Maple Crunch Cinnamon Rolls, Cinnamon Clusters, Sugar Glazed Long Johns just to name a few in addition to the traditional Sugar Glazed doughnuts.
And, in the Holiday spirit they offered these beautifully decorated doughnuts.
Of course, to make this tree featured below, you would actually have to NOT eat some doughnuts. An impossible task once you sink your teeth into one of these things!
Grab yourself some of their hot coffee and head west on I-40 to a cow pasture on the west end of town known as "Cadillac Ranch". It is visible from the highway and even though it's located on private land, the owners encourage not only visiting their 1949 to 1963, half-buried nose-first in the ground Cadillacs, but grabbing a paint of spray can to decorate these wildly-colored vehicles.
Wishing you sweetest of experiences every day!
