There is no place on earth where the collective immense talent of actors, dancers, singers and performers are available in one place than in New York City. To see any show in New York City is having the opportunity to see the best of the best. Even the waiters and staff at Jekyl & Hyde and Ellen's Stardust Diner in New York are incredible performers who are just waiting in the wings for their chance to get on the big stage. So, it goes without saying that you just have to make time to get to a show. Most shows are in the evenings but some offer matinee performances. For in-depth information on shows go to www.theater.nytimes.com but if you are simply wanting to get names of shows, times and ticket availability, go to the following sites:

The website www.ticketmaster.com will only have a list of shows in which they are the ticket broker. So, for a complete list of shows, you will need to go to the other websites I listed.
One such show I highly recommend you see in New York is "War Horse", the play. I saw the movie first knowing that Steven Spielberg based the movie on the play he had seen in London. I just could not imagine how that movie would play out on stage so my curiosity lead me to the play. And, I found the stage production absolutely awesome! Joey, the main character in the play who happens to be a horse, is actually a puppet controlled by humans underneath his life-size metal body. In no time at all you are totally transformed by Joey's movements and you forget that he is actually a puppet. All that said, the play offers a beautiful story of love, devotion and faith. It is a must see! War Horse is playing at the Lincoln Center Theater-Vivian Beaumont at 150 West 65th (between Broadway and Amsterdam).
Now you can't go to a show without first going to dinner and my recent dining experience at Quality Meats was so delicious! It is located just down the block from the Plaza Hotel and within a few blocks of the Lincoln Center Theater at 57 West 58th Street in the heart of midtown Manhattan. The warm, industrial decor pays homage to traditional New York City butcher shops of an earlier era. And, the restaurant works with two of New York's oldest and most respected butchers to bring a menu that is nothing short of brilliant! You will be tempted to fill up on the fresh, steaming-hot bread served in a skillet that arrives at your table, but resist temptation! Because, you will want lots of room for what comes next. For starters, the Roasted Chioggia Beet Salad is one of the best I've ever had. And, your entree fish and meat are cooked to perfection! Plus, add a couple of out of this world sides (I anguished over my sides but in the end ordered the Corn Creme Brulee, Broccoli & Cheese Bites and the Gnocchi and cheese and was one happy customer! They are meant to be shared if you are feeling generous that evening)! And, wine? Have a mentioned their wine? The display up and down the staircase of their extensive wine list is just part of their beautiful decor! Get there quick and you will guaranteed to be happy!
