It's Only You and Me in Madrid

There is certainly a lot to see in Madrid....

...the architecture, the history....

...the tradition!

However, no trip is complete without staying at
Only You Hotel and Lounge in Madrid.  This hip, contemporary
boutique hotel not only has the gift of location, but it offers
impeccable service, decor and atmosphere that is hard to beat!
A refurbished palace dating from the 19th century in the heart
of Madrid, the interiors have been fashionably designed by
Lazaro Rosa Violan giving Only You its classic style
with Mediterranean touches.

And, even though you are just steps away from all
that Madrid has to offer, including great restaurants and shops, the
hotel itself is located on a quiet street on Calle Barquillo.

From the moment you walk in their doors, you
know you are going to enjoy the experience.  The
vibe is calm and cool and the staff could not
be any better!

There are unique touches everywhere from the vintage painted luggage
behind the check-in desk to the beautifully ornate blue tiled elevators.

The lounge areas are inviting and relaxing.  Even check out the
Veuve Clicquot sitting on the table.  Yes, I believe I did
partake in having a glass or two during my stay.

Warmth combined with high, airy ceilings give
this boutique hotel a spacious yet intimate atmosphere.

The cocktail bar and lounge are just the
perfect place to unwind after a busy day in Madrid.

And, the beauty of the interior continues into the
rooms which offer a quiet retreat in this busy city.

This is the perfect spot to start your day.

An enclosed atrium offers a bright and airy
atmosphere to the downstairs lounge which they more
appropriately call "The Padrino".

My only complaint about this stay is how sad it made
me feel to leave.  If I could have packed up this hotel
in my bag, I would have done it! (Fear of the baggage
charge from the airline was a factor in my decision.)

Say "Oui" to the La Voile d'Or Hotel

You know it's going to be a good day when you haven't
even landed and you look out your airplane window
to this beautiful scene below!

Located midway between Nice and Monaco on a picturesque
peninsula along the French Riviera sits the quaint
village of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

A stroll along the port of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is
as inviting as it is enchanting.

Whether it's watching veterans who have lined
up for a parade, or you want to take a boat out,
or dine, or shop or nestle up to a quaint bar, there are
endless ways to be entertained.  On the other hand,
you may simply enjoy the act of doing nothing.  Either
way, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat will fill your pleasures.

At the end of the harbor sits La Voile d'Or Hotel.
With it's spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea
it is a feast for the eyes and soul.  This boutique
hotel is the perfect place to unwind.

Whether you are at their beach, gardens, pool, restaurant
of rooms, you can enjoy the magnificent views of the
sea, port and charming village of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.'

Gourmet dining and a vibrant piano bar make this
the place to be once the sun goes down.

Pacific Grove in Bloom

This small town of 15,000 sits at the tip of the scenic
Monterey Peninsula in Monterey County and is
known for its beaches,  golf courses, its Monterey Bay
Marine Sanctuary, its Monterey Bay Aquarium, its
Monarch butterflies and for having one of the oldest
operating lighthouses in the country.  It is also
referred to as "America's Last Hometown" because
of the vast amount of Victorian homes (many of which
have been turned into bed and breakfast inns).

There is nothing better than strolling along
Ocean Avenue.  On one side you have
the gorgeous Monterey Bay....

...and on the other side of the street you have the
stunning architecture of homes, inns and
restaurants...

...and as you are walking along thinking it just
cannot get any prettier than what you have already
witnessed, you stumble across this...

...and just about the time you cannot imagine anything
more beautiful, you are in for a real treat as it
just gets more and more beautiful...

The beautiful coastal town of Pacific Grove shines
exceptionally bright during the months of April and
May when the Mesembryanthemum flowers (more
popularly known as "carpet flowers") are in full bloom.

The carpet flowers do not come around much,
but that will not be the same for me....

...after all, you still get this view year round!

MAY YOU FIND BEAUTY IN YOUR WALK OF LIFE...
